Sheffield Futsal First Team are taking on England’s talented Under 19’s side on Saturday 24th November at the “Victory Hall” venue at Loughborough University.
The England Under 19’s are preparing for their preliminary round of qualification for the UEFA Futsal European Championships in January 2019. The squad are under the guise of two ex England international futsal players, Pete Vallance and assistant Ben Mortlock. Vallance is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable English coaches in the game and Mortlock was a key player for Sheffield, featuring in their 2012/13 season in which they won the Northern FA National League and reached 3rd place in the Grand Finals.
Sheffield are on a break from national league duty and this game provides an excellent learning opportunity at just the right time in the season. The fixture also reflects the club’s aim to develop players and push them on to a higher level of performance. Creating a link with the England Futsal set up will benefit both players and coaching staff in this core aim of development. The Sheffield team will be hoping to give match experience to individuals who have been progressing well in their first season of Futsal as well as hone tactical elements they have been working on. Sheffield Futsal Club are thankful to Pete Vallance and the staff at England for facilitating Saturday’s game and wish the National team well in their future international fixtures.
