Last Sunday’s fixture against Warrington turned out to be more significant than any thought after the final whistle blew, as in that one match 2 club records were broken.

The first record that was broken is the obvious one to be honest which is the biggest win, before the game the record stood at 23-3 against Liverpool back in 2010.

It’s taken 12 years for this record to be broken. When Warrington came to town the Sheffield Head Coach called for ruthlessness and by jove didn’t he get it? Not only did he get the team to take their chances, but they broke the scoring record with the result of 26-3, but it could’ve been so much more if the Sheffield players weren’t trying to be so cheeky with their efforts at times.

But that’s the sign of a team brimming with confidence as they go into the business end of the season. Sheffield looks well on course to finish in the top four playoffs spots and looks to have what it takes to win it as well.

The second and final record that was broken, was the most goals in a game by a single player. Up steps Rhys Butterworth, the record was originally held by Ryon Leyshon and had lasted for 11 years, when he bagged himself 6 goals back in 2011 against Hull, but now he must pass on the mantle to Butterworth who bagged himself 7 goals against Warrington.

Six of his goals came in the first half, but he clinched the record during the second period. He’s one of the youngest players in the squad at the ripe old age of just 18 he’s got plenty of futsal in him.

So, this wasn’t just a great win for Sheffield in the LNFS England North Division, but a record-breaking weekend and maybe we have to wait another 11 years but the wait was worth it in the end, as we all look forward to an exciting and successful end to the season.
